Our engagement

Driven by commitment. Defined by sustainability.

Our commitment to sustainable energy

At STRABAG Energy Infrastructure, we take responsibility for how our projects influence the environment, society, and the communities we work in. Our approach follows the ESG orientation of the STRABAG Group, while focusing on the specific challenges and opportunities within the energy-infrastructure sector.

Environment

Europe’s water and energy systems face major challenges: up to 25% of drinking water is lost through leaks, and power grids must rapidly expand to support the clean energy transition. Public funding of more than €1 trillion from EU programmes is accelerating this transformation.

STRABAG Energy Infrastructure is actively shaping this change through sustainable projects, technological innovation, and responsible action across the entire value chain. We aim to make our energy-infrastructure projects more sustainable, efficient, and resource-conscious. Among our many environmental initiatives, the following examples highlight how we apply innovative technologies and responsible practices.

For example: Resource Efficiency Through Advanced Treatment Technology

Drawing inspiration from STRABAG Water Technologies’ LINPOR® biofilm system, we integrate and promote solutions that:

  • Reduce resource consumption
  • Lower operational emissions
  • Enhance energy performance in critical infrastructure

Communities

Our operations consistently engage with and support local communities. In addition to many internal initiatives, the following group-wide activities illustrate our commitment to community well-being.

For example: Road Safety & Education Programmes

EFKON India, a STRABAG Group company and part of the Energy and Infrastructure division, runs various CSR programmes such as:

  • Road safety education for school children
  • Community awareness initiatives
  • Support for essential local services

We follow similar principles by ensuring:

  • Inclusive and safe project environments
  • Transparent communication with local stakeholders
  • Supportive engagement around major infrastructure projects

Governance

Strong governance is fundamental to how we operate. While we apply numerous internal policies, systems, and controls, one representative area of our approach includes:

With digital project tools and structured governance processes, we ensure:

  • Ethical and transparent decision-making
  • Clear responsibilities and compliance
  • Supplier and subcontractor due diligence
  • Robust risk management across the lifecycle of energy-infrastructure projects

This reflects only part of our broader governance framework designed for reliability and accountability.
