Gothenburg Heat Pump Project

STRABAG Energy Infrastructure and Züblin Scandinavia are advancing sustainable urban heating in Gothenburg, Sweden. With the heavy-load installation of major equipment successfully completed on schedule, the team is now tackling the high-precision piping phase to prepare the 50 MW plant for commissioning in late November.

50 MW Heat Pump Project Hits Key Installation Milestones

For our large heat pump project in Gothenburg, Sweden, the delivery and heavy-load installation of the entire main equipment, comprising four heat exchangers, the turbo-compressor from our "Heat Pump Alliance" partner Atlas Copco, and the 16 MW medium-voltage motor, were completed on schedule between early and mid-July. Working in collaboration with Züblin Scandinavia, our installation team successfully established the necessary prerequisites and carried out the required construction work for this phase.

Following the heavy-load installation, the piping installation phase is now underway. With nominal diameters of up to DN 1600, this step presents its own set of challenges particularly regarding the required quality of execution and the need to meet project goals and agreed deadlines within a very tight schedule.

Once all installation work is complete, currently scheduled for the end of November, the large-scale heat pump module (50 MW) will be commissioned.
