Hamburg Waltershof/Rugenberger damm - district heating pipeline

Design & build contract for the expansion of the regional energy network, featuring the installation of a high-pressure district heating pipeline and multi-utility infrastructure integration.

Main services

The expansion of the energy network in Hamburg Waltershof at Rugenberger Damm marks a significant milestone in regional utility development. Our main services for this project center on the expert laying and manufacturing of a district heating connection pipe, utilizing a high-performance plastic-coated pipe DN 200 with a nominal pressure rating of 25 bar. This specialized pipeline construction is designed to provide long-term thermal efficiency and structural integrity for the district's heating grid.

Requirements

Meeting the rigorous requirements of this industrial project involves a comprehensive logistical and engineering effort. The scope includes the installation of 1,800 meters of plastic-coated pipe DN 200/355, supported by extensive earthworks that require the team to excavate and backfill 2,000 m³ of surfaces. Furthermore, the project manages the restoration of 1,200 m³ of paved surfaces to maintain the area's logistical functionality.

Beyond the heating infrastructure, the technical team is responsible for the manufacture and assembly of 2 pipe bridges and the successful completion of 4 building connections. To support the region's digital infrastructure, the scope also includes blowing in and connecting 1,600 meters of fiber optic cable, creating a multi-utility corridor within the Rugenberger Damm project area.

Technical services

A standout technical feature of this project is the complex installation of 2 pipe bridges, specifically a lock bridge and a road bridge, to navigate the unique landscape of Hamburg Waltershof. The connection phase requires the high-precision drilling and connecting of the district heating connection pipe DN 300, PN 25.

To ensure the pipeline follows the exact geographical requirements of the site, we utilize advanced pipe bending with a hydraulic pipe bending machine, allowing for custom-fit adjustments without compromising the pipe's 25-bar pressure rating. This combination of fiber optic integration, heavy civil engineering, and specialized pipe bridge assembly ensures a modern, resilient energy supply for the Hamburg region.
