Design, construction and trial operation of the new wastewater treatment plant as integrative part of the “Water and Sewerage Programme in Medium Sized Municipalities in Serbia-Programme III”
Designed for a treatment capacity of 70,000 PE and a dry weather flow of 19,621 m³/day, the newly constructed wastewater treatment plant integrates a complete mechanical and biological treatment process. The facility includes an inlet pumping station, coarse and fine screening, grit and grease removal, and primary sedimentation, followed by a modern aeration system and final sedimentation for efficient biological treatment. In addition, the plant features a comprehensive sludge treatment line, including biogas production, biogas upgrading, and utilisation through a combined heat and power (CHP) unit, ensuring both energy recovery and reduced environmental impact.
The treatment process is designed to meet stringent effluent requirements by achieving effective organic carbon removal, as well as advanced nutrient and phosphorus reduction, thereby contributing to improved water quality in the receiving environment.
The scope of work covered the full project cycle, including the detailed design, complete plant construction, and the supply and installation of all mechanical, electrical, and laboratory equipment. It further encompassed full commissioning activities, performance testing, and an extended trial operation period to verify and demonstrate the plant’s full operational functionality and compliance with all required standards.
