Upgrading of the wastewater treatment plant Týnec nad Sázavou

Modern wastewater infrastructure for future growth.

The wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Týnec nad Sázavou has been comprehensively upgraded to meet increasing wastewater treatment demands, improve operational efficiency, and provide reliable service for future urban development. Delivered between July 2023 and September 2025, the project was carried out by STRABAG Water s.r.o. for the City of Týnec nad Sázavou.

A particular challenge was the requirement to maintain full operation of the wastewater treatment plant throughout the entire construction period. Through precise planning and coordination, all modernization works were successfully completed without interrupting treatment processes.

Project Highlights

  • Capacity increased to 8,000 Population Equivalents (PE)
  • Modernization and expansion completed under full operational conditions
  • Project scope delivered through 23 individual construction structures (assets)
  • New biological wastewater treatment facilities
  • Modern sludge treatment and handling systems
  • Reconstructed settling tank newly incorporated into the wastewater treatment process
  • Septage receiving station
  • Treated water storage tank
  • Microscreen filtration system
  • Upgraded mechanical, electrical, and automation equipment

Delivering modern infrastructure under operation

To ensure continuous wastewater treatment, the project was implemented in two carefully planned phases. Existing facilities were gradually replaced with modern treatment structures and advanced process technology while maintaining plant operations.

The works included the installation of new piping networks, electrical infrastructure, and process control systems, as well as the construction of internal roads, paved areas, fencing, and supporting site infrastructure.

Building a future-ready wastewater treatment plant

The completed upgrade transforms the wastewater treatment plant into a modern facility that combines increased treatment capacity with advanced process technology. New mechanical, electrical, and automation systems improve operational control and efficiency, while optimized sludge handling and filtration processes support high treatment performance.

The project provides a reliable foundation for sustainable wastewater management and long-term environmental protection in Týnec nad Sázavou.
